Youth Activities

Youth Activities
A new year brings new opportunities
Our facilities include: pool table, PS4, table tennis, tuck shop, milkshake bar, card games, board games, open bouldering in Climb61...
We will be running one-off events whilst we develop new relationships on the back of the covid-19 pandemic and create our own normality for local young people. As we listen and let the young people steer the youth project we will have a more regular timetable. Until then, keep an eye on our social media channels!

The Hub
Kids Climbing Club

Kids Club Climbing
After school group with fun games based on developing climbing skills as well as drinks for Key Stage Two age children.
A chance to socialise outside of school and explore some new found independence in a safe and welcoming environment.
Kids Climbing Club provides Youth Workers with an opportunity to work with younger members of the community and introduce them and their families to the opportunities offered by SMYP from an earlier age.

Climbing Club

Climbing Club
Indoor climbing group open to young people of all abilities aged 11+

Climbers work their way through their SMYP Climbing Log Books to track their progress and achievements on our weekly climbing night, either at Climb61 or further afield trips to local indoor climbing walls and in the summer months, outdoor crags.
Each session attended will receive a stamp: 12 stamps = An outdoor climbing invitation!

Climbing is a unique sport with numerous benefits of which we have seen first hand in our other targeted youth work projects - Climbing Club was set up in order to make this experience more accessible to other young people in our area.

Ignite

Ignite
Bible study open to all ages. An opportunity to explore christianity in a relaxed and open environment.

An hour and a half of sharing snacks, playing some games, receiving input and discussing biblical themes.

Trips

Trips
We listen to what our young people say, what they are interested in and seek to provide opportunities to enjoy and develop. We enjoy a yearly residential holiday for young people and are looking to provide residential trips for our younger groups in the future. In the summer of 2019 we went to Cornwall for a week to a Christian festival called Creation Fest. We explored Christianity in an informal way, skated, danced, body boarded, silent discoed, laser tagged, dodge balled and so much more. We cannot wait for our next adventure. Watch this space...
